I’m not sure if now that the summer is finally here (I am so much happier in the sun) or my running energy is just kicking in but my mind is racing with all the projects I want to get started on - NOW! If I only had more hands, or 10 more hours in my day I know I could get it all done! This is what I would like to do…. first make Annis from Knitty, a beautiful lace wrap on Ravelry (free!)just because it is almost my name, then a Baby Surprise sweater in Lorna’s Fisherman ( I think I can do one for sure in one skein), another Citron, this time in Sheep Shop Feet (I actually have this started), finish my wrap from in the pale green Stimulus Package yarn, and finally (not really but what’s on my mind right now) my cotton short sleeve cardi in the Ultra Pima Cascade Cotton. Eventually I will need to sit and decide what’s next. In the meantime I have a list of things in progress already! Whew - like I said - - MADNESS!
We have a bunch of classes starting this week and next as well as Kids Clubs this Friday, Daisy Chain Free Quilt Workshop this weekend, Kids Camp starting the week after July 4th, and our 1st Annual Yarn Sale Sunday and our 2nd Annual New York City Fabric Shopping Trip! For classes we have the following happening:
Knitting 101/ Intro to Knitting - If you have no knitting experience, or have tried a few times but quit because that scarf was just taking too darn long and you got bored, then this is the class for you! This class will teach you the basics, and together we will create something small, manageable and fabulous. Not only will you leave with a finished project, but you’ll have the motivation and the tools to keep knitting! Classes are $75 (not including materials) for 4 weeks. Offered Saturdays 11am-1pm OR Thursday evenings, 6-8pm (both ongoing enrollment).
Knit your First Sweater–This series will help you do more with your knits and purls. Claire will teach you the techniques needed to increase, decrease, and seam as you construct a simple raglan sweater. Using Ann Norling’s patterns for either an adult or child’s cardigan or pullover, you can choose from a variety of yarns and gauges. Check out Annissa’s Irish Flag child’s pullover for inspiration. Class runs 4 Tuesday evenings June and July with a rolling start – you pick! Class time is 6-8pm for $75. Pattern and yarn not included.
FREE Wednesday Evening Shrug with Chelsea! We’ve been dying to get our hands in our new Ultra Pima, so June’s project offers knitters the choice between two summery cover-ups in this lustrous, soft, vibrantly colored cotton from Cascade. For those who want a little more glamour, try it in Louisa Harding Merletto or even Madeleine Tosh DK. Firstly, the Evening Shrug designed by Whitney from Purl Soho shines and covers your upper arms and shoulders with two pieces grafted together in the middle. For those with a taste for lace, try the Shop Hop Shrug from Nell Ziroli worked from side to side. Remember, this is a free workshop, so join us any or all Wednesdays this June from 6-8pm.
Saturday Sew Intensive for Beginners and New Sewers – So you want to learn to sew or continue developing your skills? Pick your own project and get started. You will learn how to read and follow pattern instructions, cut out patterns and make minor pattern alterations for a better fit. We start sewing the first week so come with a pattern and fabric ready to go. This class runs 2 Saturdays for$75 (does not include materials) Light lunch provided. Choose from the following sessions: June 19 & 26 *OR* July 17 & 24. 10:30am-2:30pm.
