Pumpkin Orange Sale

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

In one of may last emails I told you how I love the color orange - right? Well today, tomorrow and Friday all ORANGE yarn is on sale (the sale priced yarn is tagged with a cool pumpkin) for 20% off. So, if you love the color as much as me - come in and buy some. On Friday, October 31st we will be closing the shop at 6pm so we can get some trick-or-treating in, too.

I would love to collect any of the cute shots you have of you or your kids (or other people’s kids) in their pumpkin hats. My best friend (since the second grade), who just learned to knit this year, made a very cute one for her daughter Sophie.

Join us this Saturday, November 1 for our Interior Design Day! We have room for more, but please RSVP by Thursday so we can make arrangements. It should be a great Stitch House event. While you’re here you can check out the awesome pictures Marie (the photographer) has on display. It is a sneak peak into what she can do of you and your kids. We still have seatings available for photo days Nov 9 & 16 (the 11th is sold out!). Marie made a very cute video on You Tube featuring - yes - my kids! It is quick and set to fun tunes so take a minute to smile and check out the video below or visit www.youtube.com/zemlerwu.

Other than that I’m busy with finishing the kids costumes and putting together some last minute events going into the holidays. Speaking of that …. Eliza has been putting together a “wish list” for you to share with loved ones. If you love the idea of getting what you want for Christmas and the holidays or a birthday we’ll be happy to spread the word for you! Stay tuned for more info.

Starting Saturday we’ll be accepting votes for your favorite socks. One vote per customer and there is still time to join in the contest. Call or email for details.

Lastly, check out our current class listing, as well as the info for both the Interior Design Day and the photo sessions. Come on in!

Happy Halloween -

Mitten Madness!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Here’s a reason to come into to Stitch House as often as you can - Mitten-spiration!

When I came in today Jeanne (a customer) showed me the cutest mother/daughter mitten set and now I know what all my friends (who are so lucky to have little girls) are getting for Christmas. I can also do father/son mittens for my guys - but I still need to finish their teddy bears first! Hey - maybe I can coordinate them?! Too cute, if I do say so myself. We have a bunch of patterns for those of you interested in mitten making and after our sock contest is done I think we might try a mitten contest. Vogue Magazine’s Fall issue is all about mittens and we have a great collection of single sheet choices too. And, those of you who signed up last week for Classic Elite’s email got yesterday’s awesome mitten pattern. Email us (info@stitchhousedorchester.com) for a copy!

Last week I emailed you about our special event happening in November with photographer Marie Zelmer Wu and I am thrilled to say sign-ups are going well. Please make sure you call and book some time now - so you get a good slot for you and yours. Marie will start publicizing this special event to the public so non- Stitch House folks will start booking. The summary sheet is below for you to check out and pass along.

On Saturday, November 1st, Julie Murphy, who has been teaching many of you to create beautiful window treatments is hosting a Home Design event here! We’re bringing in hundreds of home dec fabric samples, trims and color options for the day. Julie will lead a group presentation on home design and provide individual assistance for selecting treatment types and fabric during each session. There will be two sessions; one for those of you who need assistance just selecting fabric but are sewing your own and the second session is for those of you who will need Julie to create great window treatments for your home. We will also be taking orders for upholstering and slipcover treatments. We are limiting this event to 15 people per session - so everyone gets some time with Julie. $20 reserves your seat and is refunded in a credit towards fabric or labor.

And, lastly, visit our class page for updated classes. I suggest a second look at the very cool Restored Jacket Sewing Class. Below is the list of some of the items that were bulleted in last week’s email.

Thank you for reading…. and get knitting/sewing/crafting…

October Contest, Classes & Sale!

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I know it’s only October, but now is the time to get moving on your holiday knitting and sewing. This week is the perfect time to make your list for who in your life has been good enough to get that wonderful hand-made item from you! We want to help you pick out the perfect project. Like I say “there is nothing more special than what we make by hand” and those who know it appreciate that something special only you can do. I recently finished this very cute blue & white teddy bear (my first try so it isn’t perfect) and I love him so much. I want make a bunch for all the little kids I know - but first for my boys for Christmas. I think I may even make ones in very cool jewel tones for my sisters. We have a number of different teddy bear patterns - not to be confused with the teddy you could make from “Knitting Lingerie Style”!

This week we are having night number 2 for Sweater Club. If you couldn’t make it last month join us this week! It’s Friday night from 6-8. We’ll have light munchies and drinks so give us a call or email to RSVP so we have enough.  Sunday Katie is staring a two week Cabled Hat class - a great way to learn cables in a small manageable project using a chunky yarn.

We are also starting a Sock Knitting Contest. Buy any sock yarn from Stitch House during the month of October (TOFUtsies is on sale 2 for 1) and make your socks in any style you’d like. We’ll display them during the month of November and customers will vote for their favorites. Winners get a $50 gift certificate, t-shirt, collectible book and more importantly… bragging rights. All participants will get a small gift. Get your competitive juices going and start knitting!

All of our yarns for the Fall are in and a few more Amy Butler prints came in this week. Stop in and check out our fabulous collection of yarns, patterns, and fabric!

I hope to see you this week-

Annissa
