We still have room in our weekend alterations class and we have a few fun things happening in the next few days.

FRIDAY (tomorrow) Evening:
I am so excited to get this last minute add to our calendar! From 6-9pm we’re hosting an intimate event with Ysolda Teague, a fabulous knitter and pattern designer. She’ll be showing off her beautiful work and signing her new book “Whimisical Little Knits”. She contacted me last week after she realized she would be in town - and I am so happy she’s coming to Stitch House. I hope you can find a minute to drop in Friday evening for a beverage, snack and good company. You can also check out her blog at http://ysolda.com/wordpress/events/ . I hope we see you then.

SUNDAY May 17 from 11-2:
Stitch House is hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Event and Fundraiser. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Fund. Come in, enjoy a light snack, bring in your most recent favorite project for a little show-n-tell, donate $20 and save 20% off your total purchase (excludes sale items)! Yup. Donate $20 for a great cause and save 20% off your total purchase that day, and a small gift. On this day we will formally present our Baby Sweater Contest winner (Peggy) and all the participants (Bill was a very close second) with their goodies bags. Door prizes and free gifts will be given away throughout the event.

We are also underway with our next contest. Make a wrap or shawl, knit or crochet in yarn purchased at Stitch House and display it during the month of June and win a great prize. All contestants win and the grand prize for each category (Shawl and Wrap) win extra big!

Last week I forgot to attached the clutch pattern so I am trying again this week. I hope you enjoy it!

Reminder: The month of May means 25% off all patterns, magzines and books in stock. Already discounted items are not included (but they’re already 50% off).

I hope you can make it in this weekend for one of our events!

Hooray for May!

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Yeh for May! First a few personal orders of business: Happy Birthday Lesley (you’ll always be older than me) and then a very special Happy Birthday to the triplets. Charlie, Kayden and Sam turn 3 THIS Sunday! Can you believe it? I can’t. I really need to get a move on my exercising because it doesn’t work now that they’ll be three. I can’t say - hey I had triplets… it was 3 years ago.

Anyway the start of a new month lends itself to some new classes, a new knitting contest and new product. Join us us this week or next for one of the following classes:

Knit Workshop - Are you ready to move to the next level with your knitting, but don’t want to venture alone? This class will guide you through pattern or chart reading, knitting in the round, or whatever is tripping you up. Participants will select their own projects and each class will begin with a few general tips. Wednesdays, May 6, 13, 20, 27 for 4 weeks for $75. Join Jonetta for this great class!

Intro to Sewing - So you want to learn to sew? Pick your own project and get started. You will learn how to read and follow pattern instructions, cut out patterns and make minor pattern alterations for a better fit. We start sewing the first week so come with a pattern and fabric ready to go. Class description lists supplies needed for this class. Starting Tuesday, May 5th from 6-8pm ($75 for 4 weeks). This class will be taught by Moo.

Home Decorating 101: Window Treatments - This 4 week class will provide you with the skills and confidence needed to construct ONE window treatment for your home. You will review the correct way to measure your window to ensure a proper fit. At the completion of this course you will have a functioning treatment and instruction on how to mount and install it in your home. During the series you are welcome to use the shop machines outside of class time, when available, to make another one to compliment the one you’ll work on during class time. Starting Wednesday, May 6th from 6-8pm for 4 weeks ($100). Julie has created an awesome following for this class - sign up early!
